Quick Answer

For vintage Pokémon collectors targeting Gym Expansion 2, Sabrina's Gengar Lv.39 PSA10 is a top-tier acquisition due to its iconic artwork, old back rarity, and flawless grade. Prioritize authenticated slabs and verify the old back variant before purchase.

Why Sabrina's Gengar Lv.39 Stands Out

Sabrina's Gengar Lv.39 from the Japanese Gym Expansion 2 set, 'Challenge from the Darkness,' is a nostalgic favorite. Its dark, mischievous design captures Gengar's personality, making it a must-have for fans of the Gym series and Ghost-type Pokémon.

The 'old back' variant refers to the card's back design, which differs from later printings. Old back cards are rarer and more sought after by vintage collectors, adding to the card's appeal.

PSA10: The Pinnacle of Condition

A PSA10 grade signifies a card in near-perfect condition, with no visible flaws under standard examination. For a vintage card like Sabrina's Gengar, achieving PSA10 is exceptionally rare, making it a centerpiece for serious collections.

The PSA holder provides tamper-evident protection and a unique certification number, ensuring authenticity and preserving the card's condition over time.

Value Considerations

The catalog price for Sabrina's Gengar Lv.39 PSA10 is USD 6107.13, with a comparison price of USD 8724.47. This reflects the card's rarity and demand among collectors, but prices can vary based on market trends and individual card characteristics.

When evaluating value, consider the card's grade, old back status, and the credibility of the seller. Authenticity guarantees and secure shipping are essential for high-value transactions.

Decision Rules for Buying Sabrina's Gengar PSA10

  • Verify the Old Back: Confirm the card has the 'old back' design, as this variant is rarer and more valuable. Request clear images or a description from the seller. Always ask for proof of the old back before purchasing.
  • Check the PSA Certification: Use the unique PSA certification number on the slab to verify the card's grade and authenticity on the PSA website. Cross-reference the cert number to avoid counterfeits.
  • Assess Market Price: Compare the listed price with recent sales of similar PSA10 old back cards. The catalog price of USD 6107.13 serves as a reference, but market conditions may vary. Set a budget based on recent comparable sales, not just catalog prices.
  • Evaluate Seller Credibility: Purchase from reputable sellers with authenticity guarantees and secure, tracked shipping to ensure a safe transaction. Read seller reviews and confirm return policies before committing.
